We Believe ….
The purpose of our church is to introduce people to Christ and help them grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. (2Pet. 3:18) We want to facilitate the process of growth in the following areas:
* Knowing Christ * Growing in Christ
* Serving Christ * Sharing Christ

The following Bible themes will give you a quick overview of our church doctrines and what we believe.

The Bible
In the Bible, God reveals His mind to us. God gave His Word to man without error and we can trust it to guide our lives today. God reveals Himself through the written Word and through the living Word, Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ
He is God and became man so he could die for our sins. We believe any religion that makes Him less than God is false and should be exposed as such. Isaiah 9:6 says,”He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God..”

The Holy Spirit
The Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. Each believer is given the Spirit to comfort, guide, empower, and convict them. The Spirit is a person of the Godhead and lives in believers to make them like Christ. 2 Corinthians 3:18

Man … and Sin
We believe that every person has sinned and needs a Savior. We believe that Christ died for our sins and we must personally repent of our sins and place our faith in Him as Savior and Lord.
Healing and Miracles
This area has divided churches for many years. Do we believe our God can heal? Yes! Do we believe it is His will that every one get healed? No. Do we pray for the sick? Yes. When called upon to do so, our elders anoint with oil and pray for the sick. (James 5:14) Do we build our church on signs and wonders? No. We build our church on Christ and the Word of God, the Bible.

Speaking in Tongues
On the basis of God’s Word, we hold the following truths regarding tongues:1.) seek the Giver — not the gift, and 2.) Any words spoken must be consistent with Scripture, the revealed truth of God. Does everyone speak in tongues? Not according to the teachings in I Cor. 12:29-30; 14: 1-5, 12, & 39. Is tongues for today? This gift was primarily for the establishment of the early church.

Giving
We recognize that giving of our finances to the Lord’s work is one way of showing God we trust Him to provide for our needs. While we encourage regular and faithful tithing, we don’t want money to be an emphasis at Family Community Church. We desire people to give out of love for God and His people, not out of obligation. “Let each one do just as he has purposed in his heart; not grudgingly or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7

Music
We use music to worship God. At the Family Community Church. We have not thrown away the music of the past (traditional hymns), but we have sought to move to praise music in our worship. We do not use music to replace the instruction of the Scriptures or to simply stir the emotions of our people. We use music to worship and prepare our hearts for the ministry of the Word.

Missions
We support missionaries all over the world who are sent out through our Christian and Missionary Alliance denomination. All monies designated for missions is sent to the main Mission Office, unless specifically intended for a certain mission. We believe that the Word of God, the Bible, teaches that without Christ, a person spends eternity in the Lake of Fire. With a sense of compassion, we are very committed to telling everyone about God’s saving grace which comes by faith in Christ, as personal Savior. Matthew 28:19-20

Baptism
We believe God’s Word teaches that a person needs to repent of his/her sins and then be baptized. Baptism is an act of obedience. We believe that once a person trusts and accepts Christ as their own personal Savior, and believes that He paid for their sins by His death on the cross, they are saved by faith. Therefore, one must be willing to follow our Lord’s command to believe and be baptized. Acts 2:38

The Return of Christ
God’s Word teaches that Christ will return for those who have placed their faith and trust in Him. We also believe that Christ will someday come back to earth to establish a kingdom. Since no man knows the day or the hour of His return, we simply proclaim His promised and imminent return. With this view in mind, we look forward to His coming and seeing Him. We urge all to be prepared for His return! John.14:3 – I Thessalonians4:13-18

Church Accountability (Discipline)
Our church practices the application of passages like: Matthew 18:15-20, and 2 Thessalonians 3: 6-15.

Church Accountability
Whether someone is a member or a regular attender, we encourage them to live a godly and orderly life in accord with the standards of Scripture. We support their desire to walk as “the temple of the Holy Spirit” by holding them accountable to live in a manner pleasing to the Lord.

Church Leadership
Our church leadership consist of elders, deacons, and members of the Governing Board. The apostle Peter taught that elders are to be shepherds of God’s flock. These are those who have shown faithfulness as servants of the Lord in our church setting…and outside our church body in the community as well.

Communion
We believe this is a reminder of what our Lord did for us on the cross. Some churches have communion every day, some every week, still others at various times. This can be as often as desired as long as it is in remem-brance of Christ.
I Corinthians 11:26

We share this holy ordinance once a month, as a sacrament of the Holy Church as ordained by Christ. We invite all those who participate to do so in faith and with a clear conscience before God. We encourage one to not take communion lightly, but with thanksgiving and a heart cleansed by Christ’s forgiveness, and a clear conscience.
I Corinthians 11: 23-34

Holy Living
As believers, we are “in the world but not of the world.” We are in the world but are not to have the world in us!
We need to grow in Christ. We are not sinless – but we ought to sin less as we grow in Him, becoming more mature by His grace. God would have us to continually seek His face with all our hearts desire. Holy living is not what we don’t do, but what we become as we draw close to the Lord of our life, our Savior, Jesus Christ. I Corinthians 6:: 9-11, 19-20

Marriage and the Family
We believe in marriage as defined by the Bible; one man married legally to one woman in holy matrimony. We support Christian marriages which are Biblical marriages, and encourage believers to be joined to believers, not being unequally yoked. We believe that such a marriage is the basis for a family with a father, mother, and if God blesses, children.

We believe that fidelity within that marriage is required by God, and that sexual relations outside that Biblical context, are not acceptable for godly living. We believe that such a marriage is honored and instituted by God, according to the scriptures.
Ephesians 6:21-33 & I Peter3:1-12
